How many times have you asked listeners around the holidays for weird traditions or food they eat during holiday dinner? This can definitely drum up calls and interaction on socials. What if we took it a step further?
This can garner quite a few sponsorship packages and small giveaways that won’t break the bank. Create a Station Holiday Dinner Recipe Book! The reason we ask for it now is because those old recipe books and recipe card holders are getting dug out to get ready for Thanksgiving. You can use these just as well for Christmas dinner! Or even Easter!
To start, create a section on your website where listeners can submit recipes. Make sure they aren’t posted where everyone can see them…there’s a reason for this. Once this section is created, sales can start selling website sponsorships.
Next, invite listeners to submit their weirdest, oldest, best holiday dinner dish recipes. If you start in a couple weeks, this should be open to listeners for submissions for at least a couple weeks.
Talk about some on the air without giving any information away! “DID YOU SEE the recipe that came in yesterday? No. No way would I ever make that. BUT they say it’s the first one to be devoured every year!” Give teases. How gross they are, how good they sound…you know the drill.
After you’ve collected enough to make a “book,” contact the ones you plan to use in the book. It would be great if they could receive a GC for a turkey or to a grocery store. Have legal create a document winners would need to sign stating you can use their recipe in the book.
Creating the actual book is up to you. Do you want to have a book to hold? Will you simply have a space on your website where they can log on and print it? This all depends on how big you want to make this. Honestly, it depends on how big your budget is.
Having a station cookbook could be really cool! You could even go big and print a couple with hard covers and really nice artwork on the front as giveaways during the holidays! I still love a good cookbook.
