Last month at NAB I noticed something that may have been there in previous years without catching my eye, an NAB merch booth. I’m not a big souvenir guy so I didn’t buy anything. But, I did snap a pic because I think there’s a lesson radio can learn from that merch booth. It’s a great example of something radio seems reluctant to do at a time where we desperately need to do it, maximizing every revenue opportunity.

It’s no coincidence that the groups I work with and talk to who are doing better today than they were a few years ago are the ones who invested in their operation a few years ago. While the groups who are struggling continue to limp along with outdated facilities, ancient equipment and software, haven’t updated their programming approach in decades or embraced AI tools.
