Honestly, it was only a matter of time and I’m pretty shocked it took this long for it to happen. iHeart Media just announced plans to launch a TikTok radio station. Beginning today, March 13th, you can hear the new station on 28 HD subchannels and on the iHeartRadio app.
TikTok used to partner with SiriusXM but that breakup happened last November when TikTok cheated on Sirius with iHeart. Finally, TikTok radio will take control and we can hear all those catchy tunes in their fullness through iHeart. You can expect to hear some of your favorite content creators as well as some seasoned iHeart talent. The way the media group describes it, “Tik Tok’s discovery engine and cultural impact with iHeart’s programming expertise and trusted personalities to give fans a new way to listen to their favorite artists’ full tracks while diving deeper into the stories, trends and moments that turned them into a cultural phenomenon.” If you have teenagers, expect to see a lot of chair dancing in the car while listening to this station.
Programming will be as follows:
5-10am KQBT Houston’s Ashlee Young in the mornings
10am – 3pm KBIG Los Angeles’ Jon Comouche
3-8pm KMYI San Diego’s Becky Mits
8pm-12am KYLD San Francisco’s Angelina Narvaez
12-5am KIIS-FM Los Angeles’ Kayla Thomas
Along with this stellar lineup, Tik Tok radio will feature Life Hacks, New Music Fridays, On the Verge, and Behind the Charts. I’ve featured quite a few new artists in some articles I’ve written that I’ve discovered on Tik Tok, and we can expect to hear some of those new artists on Tik Tok Radio. This is a phenomenal opportunity to discover new talent! Justin Bieber and others were discovered on YouTube…looks like Tik Tok is the new YouTube for up-and-coming artists.
Some of the content creators you love will host podcasts on the platform including Lele Pons, Carolina Vazzana, Tim Martin, Clifford Taylor IV, and Carter Gregory.
