New Artist to Watch: The Last Dinner Party

Their sound feels like The Lumineers and Chappel Roan had a baby and out came The Last Dinner Party. The Indie Pop Rock band first came about in the UK at the start of the pandemic.

Meeting at King’s College London, Abigail Morris and Georgia Davies would go to a lot of shows in 2020 and decided to form their own band. The original name was The Dinner Party, which was inspired by “the idea of a huge debauched dinner party where people came together to celebrate with a hedonistic banquet.

Emily Roberts joined after a mutual friend mentioned to Morris and Davies she’s a great guitarist. Following this addition, Aurora Nischevci, who attended the Guildhall School of Music with Roberts.

The Pandemic threw  a wrench in their performance dreams when the lockdown went into effect in the UK, making it almost impossible for them to practice together. Even through these challenges, The Dinner Party was booked to open for The Rolling Stones in Hyde Park July of 2022. Right after this, they signed with Island Records. Knowing there was already a jazz group called The Dinner Party; they changed their name to The Last Dinner Party. Their debut single, “Nothing Matters,” was released in early 2023. The song would debut on Billboard’s Adult Alternative Airplay at #39 and would climb to the top 10.

Their debut album, Prelude to Ecstasy, came out in February of this year. The debut received positive reviews across the board; including from NME, DIY, Rolling Stone, and more.

Currently the band is touring Europe, so here’s to hoping they make the trek across the pond.
