Artist to Watch: Myles Smith

One of the catchiest songs of the year belongs to a man named Myles Smith.

You may not recognize the name…but I guarantee you once you hear “She said, “Oh, hi, nice to meet you. Tonight, maybe we could Go dance, get up off our feet,” you’ll say “OHHH YEA!!” One of the catchiest songs of the year belongs to a man named Myles Smith.

Myles was born in Luton, England to a British Jamaican family in 1998. Falling in love with all kinds of music, and the eclectic music scene in his hometown, he decided to teach himself guitar and piano. By the time he turned 12 years old he was taking his talents to local open mic nights.

Still fully involved in music, Smith went to the University of Nottingham where he graduated in 2019 with a degree. After starting a management business and seeing some success with it, he just couldn’t stop thinking about a potential music career. He made the jump to give up that career and pursue music. Only a few years later he was charting on the Billboard Hot 100.

Let’s jump back a couple steps…Smith started posting on TikTok and by 2022 CEO of Extended Play Music Group, Eric Parker, got wind of the talent jumping from his phone and offered to manage Smith. Instead of racing to the studio, they decided to continue recording covers and post them in order to build an audience. It worked because by 2023 Myles signed a deal with Sony Music. The following year he released his first EP, “You Promised a Lifetime.”

Stargazing was released in May of 2024 and has over 900 million plays on Spotify, the same year Nice to Meet You was produced and has over 230 million plays on Spotify. Still in 2024, Smith won the BBC Introducing Artist of the Year award. Along with this, Smith received three nominations at the 2025 BRIT Awards and received the BRIT Rising Star Award.

As if the year couldn’t get bigger, shortly after all these events he found out he would be the support for Ed Sheeran’s European leg of his 2025 tour.

Myles Smith has been catapulted into stardom in a short period of time, but I don’t see his star fizzling out anytime soon.
