- Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Writes news stories that are clear, accurate and unbiased
- Delivers news copy on air with a conversational and engaging delivery
- Ability to develop and effectively pitch local story ideas
- Conducts live and/or taped interviews
- Anchors live coverage of breaking news and/or special coverage
- Adept at using social media to gather and break stories.
- Is current on local, national, and international stories
- Can comprehend complex material and turn it into easily understood copy under deadline pressure
- Experience with news software such as Newsboss or Burli
Minimum Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field.
- 3 years of anchoring or reporting experience.
- Extensive on-air background.
- Effective writing and editorial skills
- Ability to narrate, ad-lib and add value to live breaking news and severe weather coverage
- An idea-generating journalist with a positive attitude and a standout work ethic
- Able to work a schedule that includes holidays and non-traditional work hours
