ABOUT YOU You have personality, and you know how to use it without making everything about you. You can tell a story, have a conversation with a listener, interview a local business owner or artist, show up at a community event, and create content people actually want to watch or hear. You understand country music, or you’re willing to learn it. You’re interested in what’s happening locally and know that the best radio comes from connecting what is happening in our communities with what is happening on the air. You’re also willing to work. This position isn’t just an afternoon air shift. Production, commercial work, station imaging, digital content, promotions, remotes, appearances and supporting the rest of the KTEX/KWHI team are all part of the job.

YOUR DAY-TO-DAY • Host an engaging, entertaining and LOCAL afternoon show on KTEX 106.1. • Prepare daily show content rather than simply showing up and opening the microphone. • Connect with listeners through local topics, country music, entertainment, community happenings and relevant lifestyle content. • Produce and edit commercials, promos, station imaging, voiceovers and other audio. • Work with our sales team to help bring client messages and ideas to life through creative commercial production. • Write and voice commercial copy, promotional material and station content. • Interview local guests, community leaders, artists and other personalities both on-air and digitally. • Create original social media and digital content that extends KTEX beyond the radio. • Shoot, edit and publish short-form video and other station content. • Participate in remote broadcasts, concerts, community events, station promotions and appearances. • Represent KTEX professionally when working with listeners, advertisers and community partners. • Work closely with Programming, Promotions, News, Sales and Production to execute station campaigns and promotions. • Stay aware of social trends, local conversations, country music and entertainment news that can become great on-air or digital content. • Operate studio and production equipment and maintain station and FCC broadcast standards. • Assist with additional programming, production and station projects as needed. WE’RE LOOKING FOR • Previous radio/on-air experience is preferred, but personality, work ethic and the ability to connect with an audience matter. • Strong communication and storytelling skills. • Audio production and editing experience preferred. • Comfortable speaking live on-air and interacting with listeners. • Comfortable appearing on camera and creating social media content. • Ability to write conversationally for both radio and digital platforms. • Understanding of Facebook, Instagram, TikTok and other digital platforms. • Ability to manage several projects and deadlines at once. • Dependable, organized and able to work as part of a team. • Willingness to learn new technology, production tools and platforms. • Knowledge of country music and the communities KTEX serves is a plus. • Reliable transportation required. • Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends, holidays, remote broadcasts, concerts and community events as needed.
