You will contribute by:

  • Producing and writing for the Global Winnipeg Morning show with the highest degree of competence, clarity, and accuracy.
  • Managing daily content plan.
  • Producing, writing, and posting content online, including social media.
  • Works with our crews in the field to ensure the best possible newscast gets to air.
  • Working closely with our production crew to make sure the Morning news goes to air clean with the best possible content.
  • Making quick decisions when it comes to news judgment and breaking news situations.
  • Keeping current with local / national news and ensuring upcoming news events are noted for future coverage on air or online.
  • Providing input on creative, original ideas on how to cover events in an Evening newscast and other newscasts and platforms.
  • Performing other duties as required.

Skills and experience you bring:

  • Post-secondary education in journalism, broadcasting, or a related field.
  • Minimum two years of producing experience is required.
  • Experience writing for broadcast news.
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Able to work well under pressure.
  • Ability to work within and adapt to an MMC control room.
  • Be a proven leader and mentor that can work cooperatively with others in a teamwork setting.
  • A positive attitude and is a dedicated team member.
  • Working knowledge of new media tools and technologies (X, Facebook, YouTube, etc.), and related applications.
  • Willingness to adapt to rapidly changing technology and workflows as well as show a willingness to learn new online skills in a multi-faceted digital news operation.
  • Familiarity with current state of online news reporting and where it is headed.
  • Experience in updating online and broadcast content with a content management system.
  • Passion for broadcast and online journalism and Canadian affairs. You wake up in the middle of the night with innovative ideas.
  • A positive attitude, a love for collaboration and a team player.
  • Ability to work in a rapidly changing, dynamic environment.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clear driving record.
  • Motivated, self-starter, independent, results oriented and professional.
