Location: Flexible – Offices in Charlottesville and Richmond, VA.

This position is a full-time, Virginia based post, and reports to the General Manager. The starting salary range for this position is $80,000 – $100,000, based on experience.

Duties include:
– Oversee the operation, maintenance and upgrades of all RF transmission systems, including AM, FM, HD, STL, and satellite, including regular maintenance and upgrades as necessary
– Oversight of our IT connectivity and the systems used to operate it
– Management of contract engineers in several of our broadcast areas
– Serve as project manager for all projects involving outside contractors including design and execution of site upgrades and improvements
– Conducting necessary updates and upgrades to all internal and external hardware and software systems used by the stations

Other Duties include:
– Development of long-term capital improvement plans for all facilities and systems
– Collaboration with other departments to ensure integration of technical systems within our organization
– Training of staff on the use of integrated technical systems
– Communication and rapport with other engineers in our broadcast areas
– Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
– Minimum of five years as a Chief Engineer or ten years as a contract RF engineer with IT background
– Understanding and experience with systems involving AM, FM, HD, satellite delivery and IT
– Experience with building systems management and facilities operations
– Detail oriented with excellent project management, organizational and communication skills
– Willingness and ability to travel throughout Virginia and work at heights when needed
– Knowledge of broadcast studio systems as well as Wide Orbit, Radio Traffic and DJB
