Artist to Watch: Haute and Freddy

The 80s synth pop feel seems to be trending right now and Haute and Freddy have jumped on that train.

Lovingly called the “Carnival Pop Duo” by Rolling Stone, Haute and Freddy have brought their stage presence to everyday life. Separately, they have already had impressive careers as writers.

Known as (Michelle) Buzz and and (Lance) Shipp, they started as songwriters when they moved to Los Angeles. Shipp has notches on his songwriting belt consisting of Britney Spears and Calvin Harris. Buzz isn’t behind with parts of her resume including Katy Perry, Kylie Minogue and Bebe Rexha.

While this paid the bills and allowed for some incredible connections, they each felt stuck and needed something more.  Thanks to a mutual friend, Buzz and Shipp’s paths finally crossed. Their love for the theater and its music brought them a bond that would turn into a crazy pop sensation.

Finding they have the same eccentric taste in music, deciding to write together seemed like a no-brainer. For two years, they wrote and held onto the incredible creations until they felt it was time to release it to the world. Their debut album, Big Disgrace, is set to hit the scene March 13 of this year. It features “Dance the Pain Away” and “Scantily Clad” which has garnered over 2.2 million listens. That’s not even the most listened song! “Shy Girl” has over 4 million plays and “Freaks” is boasting with over 1.4 million listens.

The 80s synth pop feel seems to be trending right now and Haute and Freddy have jumped on that train. However, it seems this isn’t just a trend for them…it’s a way of life.
