ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Deliver an engaging, high-energy morning show with a natural ability to entertain, inform, and interact with listeners in a compelling and authentic manner.
- Collaborate with producers and co-hosts to develop and execute well-structured, dynamic daily show rundowns that include trending topics, music breaks, weather, traffic, and entertainment news.
- Utilize industry-standard software (Adobe Audition, Pro Tools, or similar) to edit and enhance show segments, interviews, and podcast extensions.
- Operate professional radio broadcasting equipment, including digital control boards, microphones, phone systems, and remote broadcast technology (Comrex, VoxPro, WideOrbit, NexGen, or similar).
- Seamlessly deliver live segments while managing ad-libs, pre-recorded promos, and sponsorship integrations to maintain a professional and polished on-air presence.
- Develop and execute a content strategy across multiple platforms, including posting real-time show highlights, engaging with listeners on social media (Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, X), and producing additional digital content (video clips, podcasts, and blog posts).
- Engage with listeners via phone calls, texts, and social media platforms, fostering an interactive and relatable on-air community.
- Represent the station at promotional events, live remote broadcasts, client engagements, and community functions, ensuring high visibility and audience engagement.
- Work with sales teams to develop creative and engaging branded content, executing live reads and sponsorship messages in a way that feels organic and integrated.
- Adhere to all FCC regulations and company policies regarding content, advertising disclosures, and ethical broadcasting standards.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:
- Exceptional vocal delivery, improvisational skills, and the ability to create compelling and authentic content in real-time.
- Proficiency in Adobe Audition, Pro Tools, or similar audio production software for editing show segments and digital content.
- Experience operating digital audio boards, automation systems (WideOrbit, NexGen, RCS Zetta, or similar), and phone screening systems.
- Strong understanding of content creation for social media platforms, video production, and audience engagement strategies.
- Ability to handle live, unscripted moments smoothly and respond to breaking news or unexpected situations with professionalism.
- Ability to work effectively with co-hosts, producers, station leadership, and sales teams to ensure a successful show execution.
- Working knowledge of broadcast regulations, sponsorship disclosures, and station compliance requirements.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Minimum 3+ years of on-air hosting experience, preferably in a morning or drive-time slot. Proficiency in radio automation systems (WideOrbit, NexGen, Zetta, or similar) and audio editing software. Experience in content creation, podcasting, and multimedia production preferred. Strong understanding of Houston’s local culture, news, music, and entertainment landscape is highly preferred.
