As the first opener on A Day to Remember’s latest tour lineup, you don’t expect much. These are, usually, green bands dipping their toes in the tour water. That couldn’t be further from the truth with Stand Atlantic. The female fronted pop punk band is bringing the noise wherever they hit the stage.
Hailing from Australia, Bonnie Fraser and David Potter formed a band with a couple other friends called What It’s Worth. From there, they released a single in late 2012, followed by a demo EP in early 2013. By 2014, the name changed to Stand Atlantic and they released their first single, Breakaway, with a new sound. While working on their next demo, member Jordan Jansons left the band and was replaced by Ethan Mestroni. 2016 saw another member, Ng, part from the group.
The following year saw progress really ramp up when they signed with Rude Records. Stand Atlantic was the first Australian band to sign with the label. The same year they showed support for ROAM on their European and UK tours. Touring didn’t stop that year, in 2018 Stand Atlantic opened for Knuckle Puck.
However, in 2018 the group parted with Rude and signed to Hopeless Records, releasing “Lavender Bones.” The single “Hate Me” was released in 2019 and now has over 15 million plays on Spotify. Speaking of Spotify, their 2021 release, “Deathwish,” has over 46 million plays on Spotify. Earlier mentioned, Lavender Bones, has over 26 million plays.
When asked what their influences are, they’ve mentioned Blink 182, The Story so Far, Silverchair, and even Justin Bieber.
