Asking Is A Sign Of Strength
Don’t be afraid to ask. There’s no weakness in asking for help, clarification, and advice. It’s a sign of strength and confidence.
The people who never ask questions either already know everything (they don’t) or they’re too insecure to admit they don’t know something (bingo). Strong people ask. Confident people say ‘I don’t know, teach me.’ Weak people pretend they have all the answers and stay stuck. Which one are you?

Topic 2
Tell us about the person you know (an adult) who dresses like a kid.
Or what kids dress like your grandparents?
Describe how someone dresses that makes no sense. What is wrong with their fashion sense?
Impossible Question
Q: At any time, 20% of us are thinking about this work-related thing.
A: Quitting
The Situation
I am one of two people in my department at work. The other person has ADHD and also has anxiety and depression. Due to these challenges, our office does its best to provide reasonable accommodations, per the guidelines of the ADA.
The problem: Their version of “reasonable” means expecting me to do all of his work, most of the time. At this point, people from other departments, as well as our higher-ups, copy both of us on every email, knowing that he will most likely never respond and that I will complete whatever tasks need doing. He basically does nothing and gets away with it.
I’m now working up to 75 hours a week, including late nights and weekends.
Any attempts at talking with him or my higher-ups about more evenly distributing the work have gone nowhere. And when I tried talking to HR, they reiterated the ADA guidelines and reminded me that the company supports him and his disability.
I don’t know how much longer I can handle it. I have nightmares about work and break down in tears at least once a week. I wish I could just quit my job, but I’m the primary breadwinner for my household, as my husband’s job is currently on furlough. Is there anything I can do?

Today In History – October 6

Germantown Founded By Thirteen German Families
Thirteen Mennonite families from the Rhineland put down roots just north of Philadelphia and called the place Germantown, kicking off the first big wave of German immigration to America. That one settlement snowballed into a German-American story that shaped everything from Pennsylvania Dutch cooking to the name of a certain famous dog breed. Not bad for a group of folks who just wanted to worship in peace.

George Harrison Gets His First Beatles A-Side
George Harrison
October 6, 1969 was the day George Harrison’s ‘Something’ was released as the A-side of a Beatles single — the first time a Harrison composition got that honor, which is wild when you think about how long he’d been waiting in line behind Lennon and McCartney. ‘Come Together’ rode the B-side, and together they hit No. 1 in the US the next month, both pulled from Abbey Road. Frank Sinatra famously called ‘Something’ the greatest love song ever written, which had to feel good after years of getting one or two slots per album. Quiet Beatle, loud results.
