The Situation
I have been with my boyfriend for 6 years. We’re reasonably happy and certainly compatible.
Lately, he has been talking to one of his friends a lot. A woman. That’s fine. They have been friends for years.
But I’ve never met her. She comes over and hangs out sometimes, but only when I’m gone. I don’t feel like he’s keeping anything from me because he tells me when she’s been here.
So yesterday I asked why she doesn’t come over when I’m home and said I’d like to meet her. He said she doesn’t want to meet me because she thinks I’ll be jealous.
I told him that I didn’t feel comfortable with this. And his response was that he understands her and why she would be worried about me being jealous.
Then he said he likes spending time with her because she’s a good listener and he hasn’t been happy at work…and he feels he doesn’t have anyone else to talk to.
Unfortunately, I’m the one who doesn’t have anyone to talk to! I am sick to my stomach over this and can’t stop thinking about that conversation! I told him I was struggling with it and he said “you have nothing to worry about.”
