Opinions And Stories
Opinions, point-of-view, and perspective should influence everything you do, but stories keep your audience interested.
Your opinion is the hook. The story is the delivery system. ‘I think this restaurant is overrated’ is an opinion. ‘Let me tell you about the $40 steak I ordered that came out cold with a side of attitude from the waiter’ is a story. Lead with opinion. Deliver with story.

Pop Culture Essential Updates
Madonna’s Back on the Charts After Five Years
Madonna just made a triumphant return to the Billboard Adult Contemporary chart with her collaboration “Bring Your Love” featuring Sabrina Carpenter. It’s her first appearance on that particular chart since 2019, and it’s coming at a perfect time—her album Confessions II is expected to debut at number one on the Billboard 200 when new charts drop this week. The pairing gives Carpenter her twelfth hit on the same chart, so it’s a win for both artists.

What’s the relationship scenario you have had to set the firmest boundaries around? Why was that non-negotiable?
Impossible Question
23% of people surveyed say this should be happening in your kitchen: you should be storing your toaster in a hidden-way place, freeing up the counter
The Situation
My husband and I were at my boss’s home for dinner. There were five couples in all. Everything was going well, and he was raving about the lasagna my boss’s wife served.
After dinner, we thanked them for a great night, and my husband mentioned again how much he loved the lasagna. She was laughing and said, “You loved it so much, you should take some home.” It was clearly a joke. But he immediately said, “Yeah, that would be great” and headed for the kitchen.
He loaded up, taking about half of what was left, and even asked if it was okay to throw in some garlic bread. The other couples—my coworkers—were standing there with their mouths open. I am horrified and don’t know how to face my boss again.
My husband sees nothing wrong with it. He says he was being nice, she offered, and I’m overreacting. What should I do? Apologize? Ignore it? Pretend it didn’t happen?

Bowie’s First Single Flops Spectacularly
David Bowie
David Bowie dropped ‘Love You Till Tuesday’ and, well, the charts weren’t exactly waiting by the phone. The song was such a non-starter that most people forgot it existed—until Bowie decided to name his entire 1969 film after it and basically force everyone to remember. Sometimes your biggest flop becomes your comeback’s calling card, which is very on-brand for a guy who’d later reinvent himself every other Tuesday.
